Introduced on 1st March 2001, the Electricity Association Engineering
Recommendation G5/4 attempts to ensure that the levels of harmonics
in the Electricity Supply Network do not constitute a problem for
the users of that supply. This recommendation provides a standard
basis of assessment of harmonic currents and voltage distortion levels
for the use of Network Operating Companies and their customers.
Compliance with this recommendation has become a requirement of
Network Operating Companies before they will authorise new connections
to their customers.
We can provide a G5/4 compliant study comprising of a seven day
monitoring survey, data analysis, network modeling of new loads and a
detailed report. All work is performed by our Power Quality specialists.
We can also, if required, supply, install and commission harmonic mitigation solutions. These include active or passive parallel connected harmonic filtration; series connected harmonic filtration and specialist harmonic reducing transformers, subject to the findings of the G5/4 compliant study/model.
